About e-Notary
The environment that helps notaries in their work and organizes electronic communication between notary and state. e-Notary enables to make trustworthy inquiries from the national registers, compile contracts, register procedures and invoices and forward entries into the national registers.
RIK administers the servers, trains the users and develops the system.
ID Card
The e-Notary service can only be accessed with the ID card. Almost 1 million ID cards have been issued since 2002 in co-operation with the state and the private sector in Estonia. It is the personal identification document for citizens over 15 years of age and permanent resident aliens. The card is part of the national public key infrastructure rolled out in Estonia. All of the ID cards carry a chip which holds the keys and certificates of the card owner enabling secure authentication and digital signing.
