Latvian citizens have now the possibility to communicate electronically with the Estonian Business Register’s Company Registration Portal. The Latvian ID-card enables access to all the same services as the Estonian ID-card.
Latvia is the fifth country whose electronic signature the Estonian Company Registration Portal recognises. Similarly to Finnish, Belgian and Portuguese ID-cards and Lithuanian Mobile-ID, Latvian citizens now also have the possibility to use their country’s ID-card to access the Estonian Company Registration Portal, sign petitions and documents electronically and transmit them electronically to the Estonian Business Register. Submitting annual reports also becomes easier when using the Latvian ID-card in the Portal since reports can be signed electronically in the same environment.
According to Mr. Mehis Sihvart, Director of the Centre of Registers and Information Systems, the Estonian Business Register’s Company Registration Portal is one of a few information systems in Europe that recognises the ID-cards of different countries. „Estonian Company Registration Portal first started recognising cross-border electronic signature seven years ago. We hope that the inclusion of Latvia to the list of countries whose cross-border electronic signatures are recognised in the Portal simplifies communication with the Estonian Business Register for the Latvian citizens,“ added Mr. Sihvart.
3 294 Latvian citizens are currently connected with Estonian businesses and/or non-profit organisations according to the Estonian Business Register.
