Exemption from state fee
- In the e-File, you can retrieve data on yourself and any minors or legal persons associated with you without restriction and free of charge. The same applies if a query is made regarding another person in the e-File on the basis of an authorisation or regarding a restriction on working with children.
- If a query application is submitted to the Criminal Records Database, every person is entitled to receive, once per calendar year, a free extract from the Criminal Records Database concerning themselves, a legal person associated with them, or their minor child/ward. A state fee must be paid for repeat queries.
- Institutions/legal persons may submit free queries (including bulk queries) regarding other persons on the legal basis provided for by law and in cases of exemption from fees under the Criminal Records Database Act. Paid queries
When making an query regarding another natural or legal person, a state fee of EUR 4 per person must be paid (this means that if you wish to make a query regarding two (2) persons, the state fee is EUR 8).
In e-File, you can pay the state fee during the query process via the bank link provided in the system. e-File also displays invoices issued for paid Criminal Records Database queries made over the last seven (7) years.
If you are unable to use the e-File system and are requesting a digitally signed or paper notice from the Criminal Records Database, you must pay the government fee via a bank before submitting your request. Please attach a copy of the payment confirmation to your application.

* If you have paid more than the required amount of state fee or have paid it in error, you may apply for a refund of the overpaid state fee. Please use the relevant application form for this purpose. This application must be signed in advance (digitally or on paper) and sent to the Centre of Registers and Information Systems, either by post (Lubja 4, 19081, Tallinn) or by email ([email protected] ).
