The Marital Property Register is a national register, kept electronically, in which the proprietary rights of the spouses, as set out in the marital property contract and in the cases provided for by law, are entered.
The Marital Property Register contains information on the matrimonial property regime and the rights and obligations arising from it. If there is no information in the Marital Property Register, it is presumed that the community of property regime applies to the spouses’ property relations.
Short description of the register
- Anyone can access the data entered on the matrimonial property register card on the Marital Property Register website.
- In order to access the data entered on the registry card, you must log in to the query system with an ID-card or Mobile-ID.
- Access to the data is free of charge on the Marital Property Register website.
- A person entered on the matrimonial property register card has the right to obtain information from the register about who has viewed their matrimonial property register card.
- If there is a legitimate interest, the documents of the Marital Property Register can be consulted and printouts can also be obtained at notary offices.
- In addition, the statistics of entries in the register can be accessed on the register’s website.
The Marital Property Register is kept by the Chamber of Notaries. Notaries and civil registrars make entries in the register on the property regime of the separation of property or the set-off of the increase in property chosen at the time of marriage, and notaries on the basis of a marital property contract. The Marital Property Register is developed, maintained, and hosted by the Centre of Registers and Information Systems (RIK).
